Money that serves your family.
Getting out of debt, making a plan together, and giving with an open hand. Practical steps you can take this month, from a family still doing them.
“full of insightful nuggets about things like debt, generosity and family budgets”
Where to start
- 01
Make a one-page plan
Before the month starts, give every dollar a job: giving, the must-haves, debt, then everything else. Twenty minutes at the kitchen table.
Open the free budget - 02
List every debt, smallest first
Write down every balance. Pay the minimum on all of them and throw everything extra at the smallest one. Small wins keep you going.
- 03
Give first
Generosity isn't what's left over. Decide your giving before anything else, even if the number starts small.
- 04
Talk about it together
Money fights are rarely about money. Start with what each of you is afraid of, then look at the numbers.
Marriage and money
